Very excited to announce that the play will be A Long and Happy Life by Bekah Brunstetter.
Bekah is currently a writer and producer for NBC's This Is Us. Her newest play The Cake will be part of La Jolla Playhouse's 2017/18 Season. Her other plays include Oohrah! (The Atlantic Theater) and The Oregon Trail (WP Theater).
"When a tragic freak accident disrupts the promising life of the blissful Cass, the results travel like a shockwave through the halls of her renovated brownstone and Bedstuy high school where she volunteers. Suddenly Cass is forced to confront her fate and the scope of her fears while struggling to maintain relationships with both her new husband with his new pastry shop and her students. In this lively and thought-provoking tale of a seemingly perfect life suddenly confronted with reality, no one is safe from the randomness and chaos inherent in our world."
Directed by Illana Stein (Theater for a New Audience, A.R.T., Signature Theatre).
The cast includes Jessica Giannone (Bristol Old Vic, Williamstown), David Ebert (Master of None, UCB), Gil Perez-Abraham (The Young Pope, Madam Secretary), Valeria A. Avina (The Flea, INTAR), Melissa Mickens (Williamstown, Shampagne), Andrea Abello (INTAR, The Lark), and Oscar Cabrera (INTAR, Bonnet Blues).
The reading and pie (a flavor inspired by the play) will be located upstairs, so purchase your pint first then head on up!
